SNB – Security
tips
You don’t have to be an computer expert to protect yourself
on the Internet from online fraud and identity theft. The following
are some simple precautions that customers should take to help ensure
a reasonable level of security when using Internet Banking services.
SNB’s one dozen ways to protect your identity
and investments include:
Install spyware scanning software, virus scanning software,
and a personal firewall on your computer. Make sure these products,
as well as your operating system, are updated as soon as new signatures,
new security releases, and new security patches are available.
These products will help you prevent hackers from gaining access
to your computer and stealing your personal information. A properly
protected computer will provide you with secure access to your
financial information.
If not needed, remove file and printer sharing on your computer,
especially when you have Internet access via an “always
on” connection type.
Make regular backups of critical data and consider the use of
encryption technology to protect highly sensitive data.
Do not install junk software or run programs of unknown origin.
Do not disclose personal, financial or credit card information
to little-known or suspect websites. Providing your e-mail address
makes you more likely to receive fraudulent e-mails.
Do not use a computer or device which cannot be trusted, such
as a computer that is available for public use.
Immediately report lost or stolen checks or debit cards to (580)616-7708
or 1-800-554-8969 if after hours. Check your account
regularly and review your account statements frequently. If you
find a transaction you cannot remember making, note down the exact
details and report this to Security National Bank (SNB) immediately.
Never give out financial information over the phone or online
unless you initiate the transaction and you know the party you’re
dealing with.
Shred unnecessary financial documents including old bank statements,
invoices, or unwanted or pre-approved credit offers.
Never print your social security or driver’s license number
on your checks.
Check your monthly statements for accuracy. Don’t ignore
unusual charges. Call immediately to resolve the discrepancy.

entries.
